BRIEF
The Think Tank FUNCAS, dedicated to economic and social research, and the Sandra Ibarra Foundation, focused on improving the quality of life of people with cancer and survivors of the disease, raised the possibility of carrying out an awareness initiative that would help society as a whole to see cancer from a point of view that is still not given enough visibility: the one of the survivors.
IDEA
Our proposal was to develop a documentary in which several survivors told their story in first person and the way in which their relationship with the disease has changed their attitude towards life. For almost half an hour, we accompanied them through moments of uncertainty, excitement, fear and hope.
With these stories as a basis, the documentary reflects on the way in which society and the health system manage the daily life of cancer survivors, the medical advances against the disease and to what extent life goes on once you are discharged: what, in medical terms, is called “Day Zero”.
